ICF Credentials and Standards Update

The updated ICF Core Competencies model was released in November 2019, marking its first significant update since the creation in 1998. This update will be integrated in ICF Accredited Coach Training Programs curricula beginning in January 2021. Updated Credentialing assessments that reflect this update will launch in the second half of 2021. To give you a greater understanding about the skills and approaches used within today’s coaching profession, we have created a new eight-part video series highlighting each section of the updated ICF Core Competencies.

Ethics CCE Course

All ICF Credential-holders are required to demonstrate completion of at least three (3) Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units in the area of coaching ethics to be eligible for renewal of their ICF Credentials.

ICF recognizes that there are a variety of avenues to obtain ethics-specific training, including CCE programs and ICF Chapter events. As a special service, ICF Global and the ICF Ethics Community of Practice (CP) have developed a complimentary ethics training course that, upon completion, will guarantee three (3) ethics CCE units. In addition to meeting the ethics requirement, this course will provide three (3) of the required 24 Core Competency CCE units for ICF Credential renewal.

To complete the course:

  1. Watch the OnDemand video presentation below.
  2. Read “Do You Give Your Clients Advice.”
  3. Take the summative quiz.

Upon successful completion of all three components, individuals will receive a certificate of completion from ICF Global through email. Your name will also be stored in ICF Global’s database to confirm completion at the time of renewal.
