Grief coaching is another path to healing. The presenter will explore how grief coaching can support clients moving from loss to a more fulfilled and meaningful life. Dr. Connors will also discuss how clients can discover possibilities in a more transformative coaching approach. Grief coaching is not about surviving but about thriving, changing one’s narrative, and gauging more forward-thinking to transition from healing to hope. In grief coaching, clients create a new and different future for themselves.
In this webinar we will:
- Describe the role of a grief coach.
- Discuss the elements of a grief coaching session.
- Differentiate between grief coaching and grief counseling and grief therapy.
- Demonstrate when to refer to counseling or therapy and when to refer to coaching.
The expected outcomes from the learning objectives are to understand and effectively use all the information presented in:
- Serving clients experiencing death and non-death loss.
- Applying motivational interviewing skills when doing grief coaching.
- Utilizing a more integrated approach when coaching grief clients.
- Understanding how a grief coach continues clients’ grief work.
Speaker: Dr. Lisa Connors, PhD, NCC, BCC, FT, is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and a Board-Certified Coach. She is also a Fellow in Thanatology (the study of death, dying, & bereavement). Lisa specializes in grief, loss, bereavement, trauma, sexual and domestic violence, HIV, mental health disorders, and substance abuse issues. At present, Lisa is a college professor and an ILCT instructor.
